The Toilet Paper Process

MAKING TOILET PAPER FROM TREES

Manufacturers do not use all types of trees to make paper. Toilet paper is generally made from "virgin" paper using a combination of softwood and hardwood trees (a combination of about 70% hardwood and 30% softwood).

Manufacturers Paper manufacturers try to find a compromise between durability to find and a fine writing surface on their product. Other materials used in the toilet paper end product are water,
chemicals and alkalis.

The steps in the toilet paper manufacturing process are shown below:

  1. Tree preparation (a combination of soft - and hardwood trees).

The trees are debarked.

The moisture in the wood evaporates and the mass is broken down into cellulose fibers, lignin and other substances. The result is usable fiber called pulp. Paper is made from the pulp.
